This series is based on the Chinese philosophy of The Tao translated as The Way or The Path in English. A basic principle is that of Yin and Yang, of action and reaction and the goal is for one to harmonize with Nature which involves accepting, conforming to, and/or working within these natural elements. The numbers relate to one of the 81 verses of the Tao Te Ching that are posted each day online. The day the painting is finished, I use the number from the verse of the day. Even though the verses are picked randomly, it would be most rewarding if one could derive any of their meaning from my work.
